This Digistory focuses on the use of digital resources covering an entire term's work distributed to students on a CD.

schoolA feature of a student's academic learning in the Presbyterian Ladies' College is the distribution to students of a self-contained CD resource package featuring the entire term's work for the school subjects concerned. Multimedia and hypermedia technologies are usefully harnessed in the CD's pedagogical design.

Student learning from the lesson notes are supported through embedded movies, audio and podcasts. The variety of multimedia resources are felt to provide students with greater differentiation.

So what I really like is that it offers me multiple ways of engaging them and stretching them, and I think that that’s a really important part of the use of the technology at the school. (Teacher, Presbyterian Ladies' College)

Student engagement

Student interest and motivation levels have been kept high. A teacher in the school, was of the view that this affective phenomena are sustainable:

I find that connection to the global world has a huge impact because it can ignite the passions of students because it’s more than just talking about what do I know? What’s my understanding? It’s that connectivity with the greater world that breathes that high level of motivation and interest. (Teacher, Presbyterian Ladies' College)

That’s the great part of the ICT for the girls, because what I am able to do, it’s not static or linear. It’s not left to right. It’s not a piece of paper. I can use different technologies so that girls can unlock their own ideas, they can go out to the wider world and grab other ideas in. They can manipulate those ideas, really, really easily through the technology. I can then bring all the other stuff in like the group discussions and try and differentiate I my classroom and then use the technology to expand the thinking further.
