WebQuests

Intellectual Quality

Where used effectively, teachers use WebQuests to support higher order thinking through explanation, critical framing and transformed practice. An effective WebQuests requires students to engage in tasks that are interesting and achievable and to develop higher order thinking. The technology behind the WebQuests is a connected computer that supplies students and teachers with information in order to answer a real life problem. Students use their understandings of critical analysis to develop a position on the solution they are defending. Using Webquests, teachers at CSDE are aware of the opportunities to develop higher order thinking in their students as an integral part of their pedagogical practice.

one student is saying that they could be as important as another whereas the next student is disagreeing with that other student. (Teacher, CSDE)

The use of WebQuests is just one way that students are developing practices of critique necessary for full participation in adult life. A futures lead pedagogy, that is an integral part of the productive pedagogies, underpins the constructist teaching approach developing the higher order thinking skills of the students.
