Student engagement
The Exemplar Schools research project revealed a number of examples of technology use for direct monitoring of environmental and social issues. Brookvale Public School 's involvement with Streamwatch and a Sydney water project involves students' use of high-tech measurement devices on regular visits to local waterways. This is one part of the whole project involving data collection, analysis and reporting via a webpage.

A similar project is being undertaken with Sydney Water.

So we actually have to catch bugs that are skimming around in the water and we count them and we work out by looking at the bugs in the water, the quality of the water. (Teacher, Brookvale Public School)
